 9 RESPONSIBILITIES OF PARENTS TO CHILDREN

As believers, we find timeless wisdom and divine guidance in the Scriptures, which provide invaluable insights into the responsibilities parents have towards their children. In this article, we will explore nine biblical responsibilities that parents are called to fulfill in raising their children in a godly manner. These principles serve as a compass to navigate the beautiful yet challenging path of parenting, ensuring that children are equipped with a firm foundation to embrace their faith, character, and purpose in life. Let us delve into the profound and transformative truths of God's Word that empower parents to fulfill their calling with grace and wisdom.

1.        Spiritual Nurturing: Parents have the responsibility to nurture their children's spiritual growth by teaching them about God's Word, prayer, and the importance of having a personal relationship with Jesus.

"You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise." Deuteronomy 6:7

2.        Discipline and Correction: Parents are entrusted with the responsibility of disciplining their children in love and correcting them when they go astray, guiding them in the path of righteousness.

Proverbs 13:24 emphasizes that: "Whoever spares the rod hates their children, but the one who loves their children is careful to discipline them."

In the epistle of 1 Timothy 5:8, we are warn for not provide for the needs of our children: "But if anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for members of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever."

Proverbs 20:7 affirms that: "The righteous lead blameless lives; blessed are their children after them."
